The reporter learned from the press conference that from June 20th to 21st, the 3rd Qingdao Summit of Multinational Company Leaders was successfully held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. This summit further innovated the content of activities, deepened economic and trade cooperation, and achieved fruitful results.

The summit has carefully organized 14 categories and 44 activities. The activities are diverse in form and rich in content, which can be summarized as “one theme, three firsts, and multiple levels”.

One is to adhere to “one theme”. The summit has always revolved around the theme of “Multinational Corporations and China”, closely following the current common challenges faced by all aspects, focusing on the global industrial chain and supply chain, the implementation of RCEP, the innovation of economic and social development, the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, Green and low-carbon transformation, intellectual property rights and business environment, and innovative design of 6 topics have enhanced the epochal, leading and pertinent nature of the summit, and provided efficient communication channels and platforms for multinational companies, business circles, political and academic circles.

The second is to create “three firsts”. For the first time, a series of summit dialogues were set up, 4 summit dialogues were held, and more than 40 leaders of multinational companies, heads of well-known business associations, experts and scholars were invited to conduct dialogues and exchanges to enhance the interactivity and attractiveness of the summit. The Shandong Provincial Government Economic Consultant Meeting was held for the first time, and 29 economic consultants, mainly global presidents of well-known multinational companies, were hired to provide suggestions for Shandong’s economic development. The first province-of-honor event was established. Thoroughly implement the national strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, invite Henan Province as the province of honor, hold special promotion activities, and enhance the function of the summit to serve the whole country.

The third is to hold multi-level activities. At the level of national ministries and commissions, a number of meetings were held, such as the closed-door meeting of the Ministry of Commerce, the closed-door meeting of the sea, and the closed-door meeting of the State Intellectual Property Office, to interpret policies and solicit opinions. At the provincial level, symposiums for multinational companies and symposiums for multinational companies in Shandong were held to listen to the demands and suggestions of enterprises and help solve problems. At the city level, during the summit, Jinan, Qingdao, Zibo, Yantai, Weihai, and Heze carried out city promotions for global multinational companies, and Binzhou held a special event to promote multinational companies to promote deeper and more solid cooperation with multinational companies. At the corporate level, American Air Products and Japan’s Mizuho Bank held on-site promotion activities to share the development strategies and successful experiences of multinational companies in China with the help of the summit stage. 6 sub-forum activities were held to discuss opportunities and challenges together, making the summit truly the home of multinational companies.

The summit further deepened economic and trade cooperation and achieved more fruitful results. The summit held a centralized signing event for key projects. A total of 99 foreign-funded projects were signed, with a total investment of 15.6 billion US dollars and contracted foreign capital of 5.31 billion US dollars, involving new-generation information technology, new energy and new materials, high-end equipment, high-end chemicals and other industrial fields. The investment volume is large, the technology content is high, the driving ability is strong, and the development prospect is good, which promotes the cooperation between Shandong and multinational companies to a new level, and injects new surging power into the transformation of Shandong’s old and new kinetic energy. The theme exhibition of multinational companies and China will be held to showcase the latest product technology and cooperation needs of multinational companies and leading enterprises, and build a new platform for multinational companies to integrate into and serve the new development pattern. The “Shandong Prefabricated Vegetables Entering the Summit Special Event” was held at the same time, and 31 Shandong prefabricated food enterprises appeared at the summit site to create a “Summit on the tip of the tongue”.

Through the personal recommendation of the leaders of Shandong Province and the successful holding of a series of sub-events, the dynamic image of Shandong, which condenses traditional culture and modern atmosphere, surges in innovation and entrepreneurship, and is full of opportunities for open development, has been further demonstrated, and the “circle of friends” of the summit has been further expanded. In the next step, Shandong will keep its mission in mind, anchor the “going ahead and open a new situation”, and constantly amplify the spillover effect of the Qingdao Summit platform for leaders of multinational companies, promote a new round of high-level opening to the outside world, and continue to build a new highland for opening up.
